It's 1992, I'm the DJ at Cambridge's first Student night, the club's busiest night by far, my contract has just been extended and I've been given a payrise. As I'd been there nearly 5 years, had a baby son and felt a bit hard done by, I didn't want to take this lying down.
So whilst clearing out the garage today, I found this heart warming series of letters.
I recently digitised my personal copy of Frank Kidson's limited and very scarse "Old English Dances" (also called "Old English Country Dances"), published in a run of 80 copies, 1890, and offer it up freely for the benefit of the traditional music community. Please feel free to share, but please keep the original copyright details intact and do not republish on the web. This is a large file, around 55MB in size.

The Story
Everyone knows the story: In September 2006, Banksy went into various HMV stores around the UK and replaced upto 500 copies of Paris Hilton's debut CD "Paris" with his own doctored versions including a redesigned sleeve and a CD-R with a handwritten title containing a mix by DJ Dangermouse. In April 2011 I got married to Claire, and our awesome photos were taken by John Miles, since relocated to New Zealand. John did an amazing job at a reasonable price, so I was a bit pissed off when I found out our photos were being used by "Diverse Image Photography" within their portfolio, claiming that they themselves had taken our wedding photos - see screenshot.. I contacted John Murray and asked him to remove my wedding images from his webpage, which he agreed to do. John may well ...
This is one of those things I often forget to do when setting up Wordpress on a new server, which means pretty permalinks don't work: If you have a problem with permalinks not working on Wordpress, it may be because Apache does not have mod_rewrite enabled.
An easy way to check is to make a simple php script, saved in the root directory of your webserver as info.php (or whatever takes your fancy):

On 2nd February 1799, Elizabeth Woodcock was riding home to Histon from Cambridge market when in a raging blizzard (and apparently a little worse for drink) she came off her horse and was soon buried alive under the heavy snow. Trapped for eight days, she was finally rescued when a passer by saw her handkerchief raised as a flag through the snow. News of her miraculous survival spread around the country, and as well as ballads, engravings and accounts of her story being published, a ...
No hallowed halls, no leafy ways
No cloistered strolls no verdant fields
Just concrete paths and freezing rain
With a long walk there, then back again
And, late each day, I’d get the cane
From teachers freshly back from slaying
The men who’d just laid down their guns
And sour old hags who’d lost their sons
No valid teaching was the rule
Instead to keep us well subdued
A sacred doctrine merged with sums
Enforced our righteous servitude
No witty, bright and in touch tutors
Who’d bit off ...
When debugging applications, it can be useful to see what's going on in the database without referring to the code. In MySQL, you can use the information_schema database to get this information. here's what I do:
Select table_name, table_rows, update_time
from tables
where table_schema = "[database_name]"
order by update_time desc
